Theme one: the Networks

The most popular network at our country is the Facebook. But the Twitter, Google+ and Tuenti are so popular too. In the fact, are a lot of people who have one account in each network, also, is very common to one person have more than one account for each. There are people who spend an hour or a couple of hours daily, but we have friends who spend minimum 4 hours on it!

We use this for everything. For all we do. We use these networks for chatting with our friends who are far where we are; for asking and resolve our school doubts and sometimes we use to uploading photos and share it with our friends. It’s a good way to set moments and experiences. 

The Information in Networks

The people, generally, puts information about their personal life, how the state about relationship with someone, their situation in the moment, their country, studies and other things with photos, comments, texts or vídeos. A lot of people puts too things about their lives without think about the persons who see this information. Maybe isn't would be important if we add persons who we know at the reality in ''friends list''. But we add everyone who send a request. In some cases, people show all their actions each five minutes in their lives and this can be dangerous. In other cases, people lie about their sex, age or appearance, all for dubious goals. Limit the access it’s a good idea, because undesirable persons can’t see personal information about us, only our friends who are trusted to us can see it. The members in this group are very careful with what we say and post, but we know about people who have had a bad experiences.

The Bad Experiences

The humans are a social animals, is our nature. We need to share everything with others and networks is the  The most part of our friends on Facebook are acquaintances. We normally use to speak with a few little part of them, so it’s clearly that they are not our real friends. We haven’t got a close relationship but they are people who we get on well. best tool for it. Also, the people use the networks for get in touch with other persons who, for example, live far.

Sometimes, there are people who want make hurt to others with networks. Can be ''Trolls'' or persons with you don't get on. Fortunately, in this group, the members haven't had any problem with anybody in the networks (since this moment). If we have to explain a situation about this type... We can talk about the attaks that the schools in Catalonia suffered the last year. The people started to create groups on Facebook where anyone could write anonymously about their school and their students. The students started attacks to other classmates and teachers. This situation finished very soon, this made enough hurt.

We must bear in mind that Facebook don’t tell lies, the people who are there write lies, stupid unreal things which can produce confusion and many problems. We don’t felt deceived by anything you have seen or read on this sites because our friends in this network don’t tell lies to us, because, in this case, they aren’t our friends.

Statistics

Although it was believed that the latest revelations about the  lack of privacy in the United States  may affect the use of social networks, it is certain that the number of users does not stop growing. The 80% of Internet users  in Spain  using social networks, and in 2012 growth was 5%. 

Comscore is an Internet measurement company. Your data are useful because they provide a good approximation of the number of annual active users of different social networks in Spain .

According to data from Comscore , Facebook had  17 million users only in Spain  in December 2012 . In this report we can see how Tuenti has lost a million active users, down to the  9.6 million . On the contrary, indicates that Twitter has now reached 5.6 million  and LinkedIn's 2.7 million . This indicates that both have grown by more than a million users in 2012.

Alexa is another tool for measuring Internet traffic and your ranking is establishing itself as a reference.

In this ranking, Facebook is the first website  in the world and the second  after Google , in Spain.

Although a survey does not seem the best way to measure Internet research company The Cocktail Analysis Question 1,500 netizens on those social networks you have an account. In the graph you can see the percentage of active users in Spain. Again Facebook is clearly the leader, followed by YouTube, forums, Tuenti and surprisingly Google+.

Advices

Andreu- We would recommend him to pay attention for the things that published and the information that he gives on social networks. Internet is a dangerous place and more unsafely the social networks.

Meritxell- Social networks are useful to keep a relation with people. But we must have a safe use and behavior if we don’t want to get problems. It the Internet there are a lot of people who we don’t know who they are. We must take care with these sites. So I recommend not uploading a lot of photos and no speaking with strangers.

Rita- You try to don’t write stupid comments the kind of: “This weekend my parents are going to a travel and I am being alone, I will do what I want!!”. You won’t write this if you don’t want any problems… Don’t use this sites to tell important things, you say face to face them.

Glòria- Please, don't post any photo for revenge if you argue with anyone, you can regret tomorrow. Maybe is a strange advice, but think about it. The public abuses in timeline can be reported at police.

An Oppinion Essay

Maria Armengol, one of the girls in the video, made an opinion essay about phones,  theme relative with the networks, for her class. We asked she for publish her essay in the blog and she gave us permission. She talks about phone overuse, another popular tool for networks and communication:

''Some people believe that life without mobile phone would be very difficult and, even, impossible. But I think that this is, principally, because the media is giving, more and more, publicity for mobiles. In my opinion, we should live with only the essential things and, of course, the mobile isn’t.

Firstly, I think that life with mobiles isn’t very healthy. For example, our grandparents have grown up without a mobile phone and they are happy nowadays and I’m sure that they live happier and less stressful than we do. But, it’s true that life is different now and the world has changed.

Secondly, if we think more, we realize that the mobile phone is sometimes only an absurd necessity. Certainly, it’s only necessary for call someone. But I think that we use the mobile phone because everything is faster with it and nowadays we are so impatient. We’ve got internet and some more chats in our mobile and, therefore, we are hooked on them. But for this causes, the mobile phone is bad because is lowers academic achievement on young people at school and the performance of workers at work.

I agree that the mobile phone is necessary but in moderation. And, of course, we can live without mobile phone. We only need courage to do it. And I think that we don’t separate of the mobile phone because we are a little comfortable.''
